Lifestyle Covenant

As those who are called to staff or term-leadership roles have a more influential voice in the congregation during the time of their appointment, all of our leaders/staff are asked to agree to this lifestyle covenant. The following statement applies to staff, elders, council, directors, worship leaders, Journey staff, and interns.

Veronica Springs Church requires that all people in leadership positions actively pursue centering our lives around loving God with all of our heart, soul, mind, strength, and loving people the same way (Matthew 22:37-40). We require those in leadership positions to agree to a lifestyle that demonstrates our commitment to follow Jesus.

We hope the following will be reflected in leaders’ lives:

  • An evident desire to grow in our personal faith

  • Active participation in our worship community

  • A growing knowledge and engagement with scripture, prayer, and other spiritual practices

  • A lifestyle outside of church that is consistent with biblical relationships

  • Respect toward others both inside and outside our church family

  • A willingness to learn and grow as a leader

Leaders are expected to live morally mature lives - (“above reproach”), First Baptist Church requires that we not participate in the following behaviors:

  • Use of pornographic materials

  • Illegal drug and excessive alcohol use

  • Self harm

  • Sexually immoral patterns of behavior

  • Disrespectful and/or harmful language towards others

  • Social network postings that are inappropriate

Restoration • Leaders who are not in accordance with the Lifestyle Covenant may submit to a path of restoration while taking a season away from leadership. The path of restoration will include one or more of the following courses of action:

  • A grace-filled conversation with a staff person

  • An on-going, intentional mentorship/coaching relationship for growth and accountability

A repeated occurrence may result dismissal from the leadership position indefinitely
